Samuel D. McCordDaingerfield-Funeral Services for Samuel Dennis McCord, 84, of Hughes Springs, will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Lone Star Baptist Church with Bro. Rick Monds officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Chapel Cemetery in Hughes Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.Samuel was born on May 23, 1931 in Purdy, Oklahoma to Samuel and Clara Vaughn McCord. He died on September 12, 2015 in Hughes Springs.He was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church, member of the Iron Bluff Masonic Lodge, retired Veteran of the U S Navy, Lone Star Steel and Pilgrims Pride.Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carolyn Faye McCord, sisters Emma Ethylene Zemke, Hester Johnson and Janell Horton; brothers Robert Johnson, James Paul Johnson and Larry McCordSurvived by his daughters and sons-in-law Samantha and Tomas Vazquez of Mt. Pleasant, Kristy and Jerry Brown of Hughes Springs, sisters Selma Reed of Ft. Mohabe, Arizona, Clois Goodman of Kerman, Ca., and Lois Nelsen of Kerman, Ca., grandchildren; Britney Gulley of Longview, Sadie Simon of Ft. Drum, New York, Jessica Vazquez, Juliette Vazquez, and Kacee Vazquez all of Mt. Pleasant; great grandchild Miguel Vazquez of Mt. Pleasant.Family will receive friends from 6 till 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
