Stella Theresa Pate

Stella Theresa Pate 93 of Lone Star will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Lone Star Baptist Church with Bro. Rick Monds officiating. Burial will be in the Iron Bluff Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Stella was born in Newfoundland, Canada on November 3, 1926 to John and Elizabeth Gale. She went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2019. She was an amazing, strong woman that will be missed by many.Stella moved to Texas in 1964 after marrying John Pate. They had two daughters, Theresa Ann and Sally Elizabeth. Ms. Pate and her husband John owned Scenic View Motel and Marina in Lone Star for many years. After selling Scenic View in 1987, she worked for Jordan's Health Services for 24 years before retiring at age 85. Stella stayed active after retirement, including attending Lone Star Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Huey, Wallace, Raymond, Angus, Michael, Alphonsus and Cyril, and her sister Margaret as well as her daughter Theresa An Pate. She is also preceded in death by her first husband Dominic Gillis, whom she was married to for 10 years.Survived by her daughter Sally Knight and husband Dwain of Lone Star; sisters-in-law Alma Gale and Nita Norman; numerous nieces and nephews in Canada.Donations may be made to Lone Star Baptist Church or Heart to Heart Hospice in Mt.
